Hotel Le Byblos in Saint-TropezSaint-Tropez offers a very long list of hotels. The tourists have many options: from extra-luxurious inns to guest houses, as well as flats and apartments for rent. Before Brigitte Bardot and her crowd came to town in the late 1950s, the jet-set yet knew this magic spot and populated the hotels. In particular "The Aioli" (now "Le Yaca") opened in 1948 and was the favourite of Greta Garbo, Orson Welles, Tyrone Power, Errol Flynn and Rita Hayworth. Le Yaca is the oldest hotel of the village and all the great movie stars have stayed, even if we have to admit that it doesn't have the old appeal. It has a swimming pool to delight its guests.

Hotel de la Ponche - www.laponche.com

This hotel is famous because, on the little beach here, were filmed some scenes of "And God Created Woman" with Brigitte Bardot. It's placed on the waterfront. in the old part of Saint-Tropez. Rooms are compact but the guests can book private terraces with splendid views of the sea. The Blue Room was actress Romy Schneider's favourite.

This is an ocean-front hotel, only half a mile from the centre of Saint-Tropez, with private beach and pool. All the rooms have a terrace or balcony. American actor and director Clint Eastwood loves this place.

To many people "Le Byblos" is Saint-Tropez! In the 60's Brigitte Bardot and Mick Jagger (who proposed to Bianca here) frequented this hotel, built in the style of a Provencal village. In high season, the hotel's nightclub, Caves du Roy, is populated with some of the world's biggest stars that come to dance all night long. In this period you can feel like in a film set. The main restaurant, Spoon, is was created by Alain Ducasse, one of the most famous chef in the world.

Château Hôtel de la Messardière - www.messardiere.com

This luxurious chateau-hotel is located in a pine forest in the hills of Saint-Tropez. Thanks to its location it has the best views in all the village. It is a 19th Century Anglo-Moorish-style castle and it was inaugurated as a luxury hotel in 1992. Johnny Hallyday married here his wife Adeline.

Business Tourism in Saint-TropezWhilst remaining a typical Provençal village, Saint-Tropez offers prestige and high standard proposals for congress or seminary. The "Espace Jean Despas" stands on the famous Place des Lices with 2 floors of 300 and 400 square metres for meetings, seminaries, congresses, receptions and exhibitions up to 300 people. The "Ambassade du Tourisme", only 100 metres from the "Espace jean Despas" is an XVIIIth Century town manor with 2 private rooms looking out on a large terrace and garden: ideal for seminaries, receptions and exhibitions.

Saint-Tropez Markets

In Saint-Tropez there are a huge number (considered the small place) of markets in the village and its neighborhood. You can find flowers, fruits, wines, local products and other interesting stuff. A mention and some information about a pair...

Place des Lices

The Place des Lices becomes animated and lives to the rhythm of stallholders coming and going. You will find all types of local products: olives, goat's cheese, chestnut cream, jam garlic, thyme, rosemary, local fruit and vegetable a combination of all the flavours of Provence. Also little bags filled with lavender, soap bars flavoured with olive oil or honey, potteries and Provençal cloth as well as other craftsmanship or antiques.

Where: Plate des Lices. Opened: in the morning, Tuesday and Saturday.

Fish Market

Just behind the Tourism Office, beyond the "Porte de la Poissonnerie", the arch which leads to the old part of the town, fishermen and their wives, look after their stalls where they sell: sea dace, red mullet, scorpion fish, squid, moray and other local fish.

Where: Place aux Herbes. Opened: all the mornings. In addiction to these we can find 3 secondhand markets. The first is the antique dealers of the Saint-Tropez, opened on Tuesday and Saturday Morning. The second is the Grimaid, opened all the Sunday mornings. The third is the flea market.

COASTAL FOOTPATH

Saint-Tropez: coastal footpathThe Coastal footpath is a 20 km long ancient path used by customs forces to watch over the coast from Saint-Tropez to Cavalaire. The hills slope down into the magnificent sea. Here we will find a variety of plants, small beaches and creeks as well and historical ruins.

We can choose different paths: From Saint-Tropez to Tahiti

Starting from Saint-Tropez to the Canebiers beach (2.8 km -50 minutes). From the Portalet tower past la Tour Vieille, along the graveyard to the Graniers beach, to catch the path.

Canebiers Bay to the Salins beach (6.2 km 1.45 hours)

After the Canebiers beach follow the "Chemin de l'Estagnet" on the earth path. At the Saint-Pierre headland, the path goes inland, follow on towards "la pointe du Rabiou", " la Pointe de l'Ay" over to "la Moutte", after getting over the "la Moutte" rocks walk along the beach towards the "Saint-Tropez Cape.

Salins beach-Pinet headland-Tahiti beach (3.5km-1 hour )

After the Salins beach follow the track to the "pointe du Capon", the path then runs at mid cliff. You can go back to Saint-Tropez by the Tahiti road (3 km).

From Tahiti to Cavalaire

After the Tahiti beach, walk along the large Pampelonne Bay, the costal path itself starts again at Bonne terrasse, then climbs over the Cape Camarat to go down to the Escalet beach. Then the rocks yield a breathtaking view over the Taillat/Cartaya Capes and the vast and wild natural domain of the Lardier Cape. Follow on the path to the Gigaro beach and Cavalaire.

THE BEACHES

Saint-Tropez beachesTropezien beaches are located along the coast in the Baie de Pampelonne, which lies south of Saint-Tropez and east of Ramatuelle. Pampelonne offers a large amount of beaches along 5km of shore. Each beach is around thirty metres wide with its own beach hut and private or public tanning area.

Many of the beaches offer windsurfing, sailing and canoeing equipment for rent. Others offer motorized water sports, as power boats, jet bikes and water skiing.

Some of the private beaches are reserved to naturist.
