In the North of France you can visit the Britain (La Bretagne) with its contrasts and its ancient and wild landscapes. Some interesting localities are Carnac with its Menhir, Pointe du Raz with its lighthouses over the Atlantic Ocean and Dinan, a medieval and picturesque village. In Normandy, the region famous all over the World because of the D-Day during the Second World War, you can find Rouen, rich in monuments, Mont Saint Michel, one of the most suggestive place of the entire France and famous because of its tides, but also Caen, Etretat and Honefleur. Always in the North, but near to German border, there are Amiens with the gothic Cathedral of Notre-Dame, Beauvais and Laon. In Alsace, the smallest French region, you’ll find Colmar, Strasbourg rich in monuments and the monastic complex of Mont Saint-Odile. Near, you can visit Nancy and Metz, both in the Lorraine region.
In the central part of the France, there is the Loire, with its well known gothic and of the Renaissance castles, its gothic churches and breathtaking landscapes. Amboise, Bourges, Chartres, Blois, Chambord, Chenonceau, Azay-le-Rideau and Tours are localities to visit. In the Ile-de-France you’ll find essentially Paris and its fascination. But you have to visit also Fontainebleau, Versailles and Saint-Denis. Regions as the Champagne and the Burgundy are famed because of the wines’ production. You can visit Reims, Troyes, Beaune, Cluny, Digione and Vezelay.
In the rest of France, other interesting cities and localities to explore are Besancon, Chamonix (if you want go skiing), Lyon, Clermont-Ferrand (with its cathedral), Limoges (known for its porcelains and glazes), Bordeaux (renewed because of its wines), Lourdes, Toulouse, Nimes and Carcassonne (a medieval village).
